Summary: J&J's Medical Devices & Diagnostics segment includes such companies as DePuy, Ethicon, Ethicon Endo-Surgery, Ortho Clinical Diagnostics, LifeScan and J&J Vision Care, which make products to treat a range of conditions, from heart disease to diabetes.

For the first six months of 2010, J&J's MD&D segment has already upped its sales over the previous year ($12.4 billion versus $11.4 billion). This number represents an 8.2 percent increase. The major divisions' sales for last year are listed below.

Earlier this summer, J&J reported that the segment had received more than a dozen regulatory approvals, and it plans to make approximately 80 significant submissions across its seven franchises between 2010 and 2012. In fact, the MD&D business segment, which is J&J's largest business segment, holds the No. 1 or 2 market positions in the majority of its markets. 

J&J will announce its Q3 2010 results Oct. 9 at 8:30 a.m. ET.
