Company: Angott Medical Products
Location: Bloomfield Hills, MI
Angott Medical Products has developed a breast exam to help improve cancer detection. The test uses three modalities--thermography, optical spectroscopy and ultrasound--and combines the results for better sensitivity and fewer false negatives. The tester digitally captures data and analyzes the results, thus allowing for the comparison of year-to-year results. In addition, the results from an individual's test will be available immediately after the test and are sent to a central company database for comparison on a national basis.
The tester will sell for $15,000 plus $15 per test to the doctor, founder Paul Angott told FierceMedicalDevices.
The company's mission is very personal to Angott, whose mother passed away from breast cancer after two mastectomies 13 years apart. The test has already garnered great interest; back in October, Angott was named Entrepreneur of the Year at the 11th annual Automation Alley awards gala.
The company hopes to launch its tester in the U.S. in the third quarter of 2013, Angott told FMD.
