Clinical Innovations hires BD’s Richard Ji as VP of operations

Clinical Innovations has brought on Richard Ji, Becton Dickinson’s former vice president of catheter solutions, to be its new VP of operations and help streamline the company as it looks to continue its domestic and international expansion.

The Salt Lake City-based manufacturer of devices used during labor, delivery and neonatal intensive care recently acquired the Australian distributor JB Medical Supplies, and the German company Brenner Medical last summer.

“Richard’s industry experience and track record of leading teams to tremendous results make him ideally suited to leading Clinical Innovations’ operations as we continue to build and grow,” President and CEO Ken Reali said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to have him on-board and look forward to the positive impact he’ll bring to all aspects of our business.”

Ji joined BD in 1995, holding several international roles in the medtech giant’s manufacturing, research, quality control and supply chain operations. Most recently as VP he helped oversee an $800 million business and more than 1,200 employees.

“Clinical Innovations is a strong organization with a smart growth strategy and the results to show for it,” Ji said. “I’m honored to join such a talented team and look forward to accelerating those gains.”

In October 2017, Clinical Innovations was acquired by the Swedish investment firm EQT through the purchase of a majority stake in the company. EQT aims to fuel its growth and has cited Clinical Innovations’ global sales organization as a driver of its international expansion in the labor and delivery market.

Clinical Innovations’ products, including heel-stick devices, intrauterine catheters and vacuum-assisted delivery systems, are used in more than 90 countries.
