J&J opens Silicon Valley incubator in collaboration with PerkinElmer

Laboratory equipment and services company PerkinElmer announced that it will provide Johnson & Johnson's ($JNJ) new San Francisco life science incubator with on-site staff, training and scientific application support. PerkinElmer's advanced imaging and detection offerings will assist with a wide variety of tasks at the incubator, including sample preparation, protein characterization, screening new drugs, performing assays for drug discovery, mass spectrometry analysis, next-generation sequencing, identifying adulterants and contaminants, and forensics testing, according to the release. J&J just announced the opening and first resident startups at the lab, as well as the winners of its JLABS Quick Fire Challenge award to promising young companies.
