Dentsply Sirona agrees to acquire MIS Implants

Major dental player Dentsply Sirona will acquire MIS Implants Technologies. The move will add MIS' dental implants to its offerings, although terms of the deal remained undisclosed.

Dentsply Sirona develops and produces implant surface technologies, implant-abutment connections, immediate placement protocols and guided surgery. The company offers products for use during all stages of implant therapy.

MIS--Make It Simple--offers dental implants and prosthetics, grafting materials and guided surgery services. The company sells its products in 65 countries worldwide. Its most recent release was the V3 implant system. Through this design, you can gain greater volume of bone and soft tissue, reduce pressure on the cortical bone and not compromise primary stability.

"MIS is uniquely positioned to address the value segment of the implant market in both its home region and around the globe," said Jeffrey Slovin, CEO of Dentsply Sirona. "It is strategically important to be able to address the implant market with distinct organizations, portfolios and brands targeting both the premium and value segments. MIS has a broad portfolio of implants and related products under a well-established brand, making it a great complement to our company."

While the announcement did note that the agreement would open up "many new opportunities of growth and services for both parties," there was no information offered on any future plans following the merger.

Rumors about the acquisition began to float around in February of this year. Last September, Dentsply merged with Sirona Dental Systems in the largest dental devices deal to date. The all-stock deal was valued at around $13.3 billion.
