BD completes $730M sale of labware unit

Becton Dickinson ($BDX) has completed the majority sale of its Discovery Labware unit to Corning ($GLW), a deal valued at $730 million when it was announced in April. BD says the sale will allow it to focus its efforts on diagnostics and instrumentation manufacture, while Corning expects the acquisition will jump-start its life sciences business, expanding the unit's annual revenue by 40%.
