GenoSpace and the tranSMART Foundation announce partnership to expand data sharing and analytics
Cambridge, MA, June 4, 2013 —GenoSpace, LLC, a company that builds information systems capable of storing and integrating genomic information and other health data for clinical care and advanced research, today announced its support for the emerging opensource tranSMART data-sharing and analytics platform.
The completion of the Human Genome Project promised a new era in biomedical research and a path to personalized medicine. Delivering on those promises has demanded not only access to genomic and phenotypic data on large numbers of individuals, but also tools to enable effective sharing, integration, standardization, and analysis of heterogeneous data from diverse sources. The tranSMART Foundation fosters the development of software and standards to enable scientists from around the world, across industry, academia, and government, to share and use common data.
GenoSpace has developed robust software systems for securely storing vast amounts of genomic and health data and advanced analytical and visualization tools to make those available to diverse user communities. GenoSpace for Research™ provides dynamic analysis, visualization and collaboration tools. GenoSpace for Clinical Care™ facilitates clinically actionable interpretation of genomic data for precision medicine. GenoSpace for Patient Communities™ enables patient-centric exploration and advancement of personalized medicine, as well as the return of data to clinical trial participants.
"Increasingly, scientists are realizing that pre-competitive data sharing is essential to drive innovation and tranSMART was developed to support such sharing," said Brian Athey, co-CEO of the tranSMART Foundation and Professor and Chair of the Department of Computational Medicine and Bioinformatics at the University of Michigan. "GenoSpace
has developed some of the most advanced genomics data mining and analysis tools available. Their support for tranSMART affirms the importance of this platform and will provide tranSMART users with tools to accelerate their research."
John Quackenbush, the CEO of GenoSpace, added, "We have seen tranSMART emerge as a standard for data collection and exchange. By adapting our software tools to support tranSMART, we allow users of our system to tap into unprecedented quantities of high-quality data using tools that address a range of basic, clinical, and translational research questions and support personalized medicine applications."
At GenoSpace, we are Digital Architects of Genomic Medicine™.
