Epic Systems is preparing to open an app store. The platform will allow software developers to create apps that connect to Epic's electronic health records system, the Wisconsin State Journal reports. Observers expect the first wave of apps to come from hospitals--which will be able to share tools they have already developed for in-house use--but the scope should widen in the future.
