Solutions provider CRF Health has completed the ePRO vendor certification program for use of a tool that measures chronic pulmonary flare-ups. The certification applies to two devices currently in use that both incorporate the Windows Mobile operating system.
The EXAcerbations of Chronic Pulmonary Disease Tool (EXACT) is a patient-reported outcome measure for evaluating the frequency, severity and duration of acute exacerbations of COPD and chronic bronchitis. The devices are HTC Corp's HD2 and Touch 2 mobile multimedia models; HD2 has a larger screen than the Touch 2.
EXACT aims to standardize measurements of COPD exacerbations. It was developed by United BioSource via a multi-sponsor consortium involving clinical and methodological advisors and the FDA.
