Vicki Gaddy Joins BioNJ as Director of Workforce Development

TRENTON, N.J. - (Business Wire) BioNJ President Debbie Hart announced today that Vicki Gaddy, SPHR of Long Branch, NJ has been appointed Director of Workforce Development for BioNJ, the State's biotechnology trade association.

As Director of Workforce Development, Ms. Gaddy will be responsible for coordinating and strengthening BioNJ's extensive workforce development program, which is supported through grants received from the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development (LWD), the U.S. Department of Labor, WIRED Bio-1 and the Delaware Valley Innovation Network (DVIN). Most recently the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development created the REDI (Regional Economic Development Initiative) grant, which will coalesce the many resources throughout the State.

BioNJ's workforce development efforts are conducted in concert with various partners, including the New Jersey Community College Consortium for Workforce Development, Rutgers University, Princeton University, NJIT, the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ), WIRED Bio-1, DVIN and others. Its programs include incumbent worker training, entrepreneurial training, internships at life science companies and related programs.

"In order for New Jersey to maintain its position as a world leader in the highly competitive global biotechnology marketplace, it must ensure that the men and women who work in our laboratories and business offices are equipped with the latest thinking in a variety of disciplines," said Hart.

"BioNJ is very grateful for the leadership provided in this area by Governor Jon S. Corzine and Labor Commissioner David J. Socolow who first encouraged BioNJ to become involved in workforce development. We look forward to working with our partners to expand and enhance these efforts," Hart added.

"The addition of Vicki to our talented BioNJ team will further enhance the services we can provide to the New Jersey biotechnology community. In particular, her experience at Mannkind Biopharmaceuticals and Regeneron Pharmaceuticals will allow her to hit the street running," Hart said.

Ms. Gaddy has more than 20 years of experience working as a human resources professional, with the majority of her time spent with companies involved in the life sciences. Most recently, Ms. Gaddy served as Senior Director, Human Resources at Virgin Mobile, in Warren, NJ. She has also worked in senior-level positions at Mannkind Biopharmaceuticals of Danbury, CT; Nitorum Corporation of Norwalk, CT; International Pharmaceutical Research, Inc. of Norwalk; and Regeneron Pharmaceuticals of Tarrytown, NY.
