IQVIA partners with Alibaba Cloud to expand services in China

IQVIA inked a partnership deal with Alibaba Cloud, a unit of Alibaba Group, to leverage Salesforce in a first-of-its-kind deal in mainland China.

The collaboration is focused on providing customers an entry into the market by hosting clinical to commercial products on Alibaba’s public cloud in China. The offering includes IQVIA’s Orchestrated Customer Engagement (OCE) suite of products for commercial customer engagement that will be compliant with Chinese data residency regulations, the company said in a Jan. 31 press release.

“This collaboration of leading global technology providers signals a new course to compliance for life sciences customers in China,” Sanjay Chikarmane, IQVIA’s  chief product officer, said in the release. “We are looking forward to expanding jointly with Alibaba to quickly and efficiently host our products locally in China utilizing Alibaba Cloud—a trusted, highly performant and secure technology platform.”

Financial details of the deal weren’t disclosed.

IQVIA’s Connected Intelligence is designed to use data analysis to help clients better compete in global markets. The partnership, the company said, will allow the CRO giant to develop solutions tailored to China’s localized needs.

IQVIA recently inked a deal to conduct the first clinical trial of Biostage’s lab-grown esophageal implant. The FDA-approved open-label trial is designed to assess safety and efficacy in up to 10 patients who require removal of up to six centimeters of their esophagus due to cancer, trauma or birth defect.
