Thumbs down: Biotech flops at the box office

Over the weekend, the biotech field was the subject of a rare Hollywood closeup, with the development of a new therapy for Pompe disease a central theme in the newly released 'Extraordinary Measures.' Alas, despite featuring such heavyweight stars as Harrison Ford, the movie flopped at the box office, earning only $7 million. Movies usually make more when they feature people dying from disease rather than being saved from them. Report
