Pensacola, FL (PRWEB) October 29, 2007 -- A recent independent evaluation of accelerometry data has shown the ActiGraph to be the most accurate commercially available device to assess daily physical activity. The study, which was conducted by Guy Plasqui and Klaas R. Westerterp, compared data collected by eight commonly used accelerometers against the doubly labeled water (DLW) technique, which is considered to be the most accurate measure of energy expenditure under free living conditions. Published in the October 2007 edition of "Obesity" under the title "Physical Activity Assessment With Accelerometers: An Evaluation Against Doubly Labeled Water", the study concluded that the ActiGraph was the only commercially available monitor that showed positive correlation with the DLW derived results.
"We are obviously pleased with these findings, but they certainly do not come as a surprise" said ActiGraph president Jeff Arnett.
