SPOTLIGHT: Group suspends Merck on ethics breach

The UK arm of Merck has been temporarily suspended from the British trade association for prescription drug producers for breaching the group's ethical standards. Merck was slapped for offering a program to help doctors with a blood pressure screening service provided they use Merck's blood pressure drug, Cozaar. A former salesman for the drug company brought the ethical breach to the group's attention. Merck said it regretted the situation. Report
