MDS Pharma Services says that Ricerca Biosciences is buying its discovery and preclinical services business for $45 million. The price includes a $25 million note, $20 million in cash and a minority equity interest. Ricerca provides early-stage CRO work. The operations include clinics and labs in Bothell, Wash., Lyon, France and Taipei. MDS says it will close its early-stage facility in Montreal.
