Private equity deal in works for Peptech?

With its lead drug candidate poised to enter the clinic soon, the chairman of Australia's Peptech says he may strike a deal to sell the company. Mel Bridges says that the country has no dedicated analysts for biotechnology, which leaves Peptech feeling miffed that it's being neglected and undervalued. Equity firms have recently approached Peptech, Bridges says, and the board hasn't ruled out a deal.

"Certainly, by the end of the Australian financial year I expect we would be in a very strong position to tell where the company is at and where the discussions are at," Bridges told the Australian.
