Peter Boynton Joins Amyris as Chief Commercial Officer
EMERYVILLE, CA (December 21, 2009) -- Amyris Biotechnologies announced today that Peter Boynton joined the company December 14, 2009 as chief commercial officer, working out of its Emeryville headquarters.
Boynton will direct Amyris's commercial productline sales, marketing and distribution efforts. He will also be responsible for developing and prioritizing the "go to market" strategy for the Amyris portfolio.
"Peter joins us at the perfect time, as we seek to expand our portfolio of off-take agreements with customers across a broad range of products, applications and industries," said John Melo, CEO of Amyris.
Boynton joins Amyris from Tate & Lyle where he most recently held the position of senior vice president, bio-products and fermentation, responsible for the continued development of a biomaterials platform. Boynton also served on numerous boards, including DuPont/Tate & Lyle BioProducts LLC, Mexama, IBIO, and Bio. Prior to that, he served as vice president and general manager of the global Tate & Lyle citric acid business. Before joining Tate & Lyle, Boynton was employed by Cargill Inc. for nearly 18 years. Boynton holds a B.S. in Economics from the University of Georgia.
