Maryland wins new MedImmune drug manufacturing plant

After agreeing to pay $19 million to cover capital costs and staff development, Maryland won a commitment from Gaithersburg, MD-based MedImmune to build a new drug manufacturing plant in the state that will employ up to 840 people. That money will come on top of more than $105 million being spent on new infrastructure work designed to help encourage other drug developers to move to Maryland. Baltimore is opening two biotech parks and one is planned for Montgomery County.
