KNODE & the University of Louisville Announce Partnership: New site links UofL experts to world

LOUISVILLE, Ky., Dec. 12, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The University of Louisville is partnering with KNODE, Inc. to promote and connect UofL faculty experts with others from around the world.

Through a UofL-specific, searchable site (http://search.knodeinc.com/louisville) the KNODE platform helps individual researchers, academic institutions and companies share scientific knowledge, particularly in the biomedical field.

"KNODE provides us a single, searchable gateway to our world-class life sciences faculty and researchers for collaborators in both industry and academia," said UofL's Executive Vice President for Research and Innovation William Pierce. "It can really open doors for scientific collaboration."

David Steinberg, who is KNODE's acting chief executive officer and partner at Boston-based PureTech Ventures, said, "We are excited to be working with the University of Louisville to further develop and align KNODE's technology platform with the goals of the academic research community. There is a significant need to automate and streamline the curation of scientific content to reduce administrative burden, while also making these experts searchable and accessible in a new and unique way. The response to the early capabilities of the system has been enthusiastic."

The company also has formed partnerships with AstraZeneca and others to improve research and development efforts such as technology licensing and collaboration. KNODE is part of Enlight Biosciences LLC, which was created by PureTech Ventures in partnership with major pharmaceutical companies and academic supporters.
