FDA's Crawford faces criminal investigation

Former FDA commissioner Lester Crawford is being investigated by a grand jury into his financial dealings with companies he regulated at the FDA. At the heart of the criminal investigation are investments either he or his wife had in companies that depended on the agency for regulatory approvals. According to news reports, Crawford's attorney has advised him to take the Fifth when testifying on the regulatory decisions he took part in while at the FDA. Crawford suddenly and mysteriously resigned last September, only months after being officially confirmed as FDA commissioner.
