Epocrates, Inc. Appoints Internet Expert Jake Winebaum to Board
SAN MATEO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Epocrates, Inc., the leading provider of mobile drug reference tools for healthcare professionals, today announced the appointment of Jake Winebaum to its board of directors. As a board member, Winebaum will work closely with Epocrates to guide its digital media and product development strategy.

Winebaum is co-founder of Blue Waters Research, an Internet incubator and investment firm. Winebaum is a highly regarded Internet entrepreneur and executive who has made significant contributions to both start-ups and major corporations. He was the founder and chief executive officer of Business.com, prior to it being sold to RH Donnelly.

Winebaum previously co-founded Internet incubator eCompanies, which in addition to Business.com, founded Jamdat (sold to EA), USBX (sold to Imperial Capital), BizQuest (sold to Loopnet LOOP), Boingo, and was the lead investor in Lower My Bill (sold to Experian). Winebaum's extensive digital media experience also includes senior management roles at Walt Disney Company. As chairman of the Disney Internet Group he led the team that developed and executed the expansion of the Disney brand onto the Internet. During his tenure, he oversaw and helped build profitable online mediums including Disney.com, ESPN.com, ABCNews.com, ABC.com and Family.com.

Winebaum currently serves on the board of directors of Gigya, a leading social optimization platform for online business. His contributions to the Internet industry have been recognized by the Los Angeles Venture Association with an induction into its Hall of Fame in 2010, by Time magazine as a Top 50 Cyber Elite, and Wired Magazine as one of its Wired 25. Winebaum holds a B.A. in biology from Dartmouth College.
