Yet another high-ranking FDA official is headed out the door. Division director Dr. David Orloff has announced his resignation with plans to go to work for Medpace, a clinical research organization. This is the third top-level departure from the FDA in recent months, following the unexplained resignation of Commissioner Lester Crawford and the resignation of Dr. Susan Wood, who quit in protest of the agency's handling of Plan B. Dr. Orloff said that his departure has nothing to do with the recent controversy over Pargluva, which was recommended for approval but later delayed over cardiovascular safety concerns.
