Caliper Life Sciences of Hopkinton, Massachusetts, plans to buy NovaScreen Biosciences for $22 million. Caliper says the deal adds screening, profiling and assay development services and will make the company a central resource for drug discovery solutions. Caliper will also pay up to $8 million for achieving certain revenue milestones over a 30-month period. The amount will be paid 80 percent in Caliper common stock and 20 percent in cash, the company said.
