Atellas stops FK962 program

Japan's Astellas Pharma is abandoning development of its Alzheimer's treatment FK962. Interim results of Phase II studies indicated that the drug would not be effective for the disease and the company decided not the pursue development. Astellas also announced that it has expanded it's agreed with Theravance to include Japan in their collaboration on the experimental antibiotic telavancin.
