Arizona expands biotech hub plans

Arizona wants to expand a biomedical research campus that's being planned in downtown Phoenix. Originally the plan called for a number of mid-rise buildings roughly 2 million square feet of space, but now city leaders are thinking bigger--they want mid- and high-rises and 6 million square feet of classroom and research space. The ambitious plan is all part of Arizona's drive to create a biotech hub in Arizona, as leaders recognize the need to draw high-paying jobs to the country's fast-growing state. But Pheonix may have an up-hill battle, due to shortfalls in the state's budget.
