The San Diego-based biotech Allerca is preparing to roll out a new product specifically designed for animal lovers: A hypoallergenic cat. Their cats were bred to eliminate a gland that produces proteins that trigger allergies and will sell for $4,000. Think that's too expensive? Customers have been on a two-year waiting list with new buyers expected to have to stand in line for 12 to 15 months.
