AirStrip PATIENT MONITORING Now Available in the Apple App Store

Native application for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad; AirStrip CARDIOLOGY coming soon

SAN ANTONIO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--AirStrip PATIENT MONITORINGTM, the newest solution from AirStrip TechnologiesTM, is now available for medical professionals to download from the Apple App Store, AirStrip officials announced today.

A free demo version of AirStrip PATIENT MONITORING is also available from the App Store.

AirStrip PATIENT MONITORING securely sends critical patient information directly from hospital monitoring systems, bedside devices, and electronic health records to a clinician's mobile device. AirStrip applications are powered over wireless networks, delivering virtual real-time and historic, interactive waveform and relevant clinical data.

AirStrip Technologies co-founder and Chief Technology Officer Trey Moore noted that AirStrip PATIENT MONITORING is a native solution on the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. The iPad version also offers some unique functionality, such as dynamic and interactive patient monitoring surveillance screens that allow a user to follow the real-time waveforms of several patients at once.

"The power, UI and screen size of the iPad, coupled with a native AirStrip application, has allowed us to create new patient monitoring functionality that has not been seen before on a mobile device," Moore said. "We have taken a powerful patient monitoring solution and made it even more feature-rich - something we plan to continue to quickly innovate on and extend into our forthcoming AirStrip CARDIOLOGY application.

"The AirStrip Technologies ‘AppPoint' software development platform is completely reusable, scalable and information system independent," Moore added. "The platform allows for the entire hospital enterprise to use AirStrip via integration with existing patient monitoring and clinical information systems. The AirStrip solutions are unprecedented in their ability to function in virtually any acute or sub-acute clinical setting."

Prior to AirStrip mobility solutions, there were delays in collaborative multidisciplinary assessment of patient data and medical management. There was no way to efficiently escalate differences of opinion via the established chain of command, and teamwork breakdowns and patient safety issues ensued.

With AirStrip technology, clinicians can immediately communicate and collaborate using their mobile device and a more timely treatment plan can be developed, resulting in improved clinical outcomes. Disagreements can be escalated up the chain of command immediately, regardless of the location of the providers involved. The net results are safer patient care, improved efficiency, and better relationships among clinicians.

AirStrip's meaningful mobility solution is a prerequisite to Stage I Meaningful Use (data access and data sharing), especially by physicians. The key to success is to actually work with clinician workflow, rather than asking them to change it. Mobility is important because it supports the actual multitasking and ‘on-the-go' realities and requirements of physicians, nurses, and clinical managers. Beyond anytime and anywhere access, AirStrip transforms clinical data into visually compelling information. It helps guide better choices by incorporating evidence-based medicine and knowledge-based prompting. The goal is to improve clinical decision-making at the point of care through data transformation.

AirStrip PATIENT MONITORING was cleared by the FDA under the title AirStrip CRITICAL CARE. AirStrip Technologies also anticipates the release of the AirStrip CARDIOLOGYTM solution to the App Store in the near future. That solution also received FDA clearance this year.

AirStrip Technologies solutions are available on a subscription basis, and are purchased for medical professionals by their hospital or healthcare system. All solutions are designed to comply with federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations.
