Software veteran brings extensive vertical market experience to Accelrys

(NASDAQ: ACCL), a leading provider of scientific innovation lifecycle management software, today announced that it has appointed former Siemens executive Leif Pedersen as its senior vice president of marketing, product management and corporate development. Pedersen joins Accelrys as the company expands its breadth of scientific innovation lifecycle software into multiple vertical market segments and strengthens its offerings across the entire value chain of product development.

As a seasoned software industry executive, Pedersen brings more than 25 years of product and marketing experience, as well as a track record of building high-performance teams, to Accelrys. Most recently, Pedersen served as vice president of Siemens with global responsibility for multiple vertical markets, including automotive, pharmaceutical, aerospace, consumer packaged goods, food and beverage, and chemicals industries. Prior to Siemens' acquisition of UGS, Pedersen was vice president at UGS, where he managed the company's short- and long-term overall business strategy for eight major vertical industries. He was part of a team that successfully grew UGS into a leading global product lifecycle management (PLM) software solutions company.
