Acadia drug flunks primary endpoint in mid-stage trial

San Diego-based Acadia Pharmaceuticals said that a Phase II trial of its lead drug missed its primary endpoint in treating a side effect of anti-psychotic drugs used to treat schizophrenia. The drug developer said that it noted significant positive trends in the study, but that a large placebo response negated any statistically significant result for the experimental drug. A separate, 400-patient Phase II study is underway.
