Wyeth gets OK to use Effexor XR for panic disorder

The FDA has approved Wyeth's Effexor XR for panic disorder, the first new therapy for that condition in three years. The new indication will be added to depression, generalized anxiety disorder and social anxiety disorder. The drug, which was approved in 1993, earned more than $3 billion last year.
