The University of Florida is seeking a patent on a vaccine that works to prevent melanoma in lab mice. A combination of melanoma cells and super-antigens works to stimulate the system's immune system to ward off the effects of cancer cells. Experts said that more than 60,000 cases of skin cancer will be diagnosed this year in the US.
