TolerRx gains orphan status for diabetes drug

The FDA has given TolerRx's lead product, TRX4, orphan drug status for the treatment of new-onset Type 1 diabetes. If approved, Cambridge, MA-based TolerRx would gain a seven-year exclusive for the therapy. About 1.3 million people suffer from Type 1 diabetes in the U.S.
