London-based ReGen Therapeutics has struck a deal to acquire the outstanding shares of Sciencom, which is developing a new use for the insomnia drug zolpidem. According to Regen, "a significant body of 'open' clinical case observations has shown that zolpidem can normalize areas of brain dormancy secondary to a primary lesion in brain damage conditions such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, vascular dementia and Bell's palsy."
