SPOTLIGHT: Actavis bids $1.6 billion for Pliva
In a new sign of the ongoing consolidation of the global generic drug business, Iceland's Actavis has bid $1.6 billion to buy Pliva. If successful, a merger would create the third largest generic drug company in the world. Pliva shareholders will now have to consider a bid of $94.31 a share, a 34 percent premium of Pliva's three-month average. Release
