Senate renews battle over stem cell funding
The Senate Appropriations Committee has fired back against President Bush's veto of increased federal funding for stem cell research by pushing new legislation that would greatly expand the number of cell lines that qualify for government research support. The Democrats clearly intend to make this a permanent feature of the political landscape, confident that they can leverage broad public support into votes during the 2008 election.
