Schering-Plough posts positive hep C data
Schering-Plough published promising new data for its experimental hepatitis C drug boceprevir, which pushed down the share value of rival Vertex Pharmaceuticals. After 48 weeks of therapy, researchers said, three out of every four patients receiving boceprevir in combination with standard therapy had undetectable levels of the virus. That compares to 38 percent with undetectable viral levels in the standard therapy arm.
None of that Phase II data is likely to sway analysts who pegged Vertex's closely watched telaprevir as the likely winner in the race to an FDA approval. But hepatitis C is a very competitive disease field, and a rival therapy could quickly eat into its revenue. Vertex shares lost 11 percent on the news from Schering-Plough.

You just need to make the drug more tolerable. The average person is afraid to be treated for Hep C due to a the horror stories. I am one of the lucky ones. I only suffer from fatigue. I do not have the side effects that were listed on the paper work I recieved. Although I am a liitle disapointed I did not lose a little more weight. Not that I really needed to but every women likes to loose 10 lbs.! The good part is I eat more then I ever have and I am not putting on weight. It is just the boceprein that gets to me. I did not have any trouble with the Peg and Rib. I mix apple cider vinegar, honey and cinnamon in a jar. After taking my meds, I take 3 to 4 tsp of my mixture. I follow it with a large glass of tap water. I drink apple cider mixed with honey. I truely beleieve this is what helps with beating the side effects. No carbonated beverages, limit coffee 2 cups a day. Eat fresh food. Stay away from processed food. I believe I am doing quit well!
I just cannot quit beat the tiredness. I can sleep for days. I just get up eat, clean up and back to bed. I do have some days where I get spurts of energy. I just do not know when they are going to happen. This makes it very hard to function. I believe it is that morning dose of the Boceprein that just does me in. I have to say I am feeling better. My coloring in my face is really looking good. I know I am already better.
I want to Thank all of you for making it possible for me to get better. I did not have health insurance. I was unaware of these studies,a friend told me about it. I was so happy when I was accepted. I have very little pain in my body now. Prior to the meds I could barely get up and down the steps. I had to push my self out of a chair. I am so pleased with my reults so far.I have ony been in the study for about 12 weeks.
Thank you!
