In a deal brokered by two US Senators, Roche has agreed to talks with four major generic drug makers that may permit them to make the hotly sought after Tamiflu. Teva, Barr, Mylan and Ranbaxy will all participate, though it seems that it is still unclear how cooperative Roche will be. Roche sold more than $1 billion worth of Tamiflu last year, boosting its overall revenue. Countries around the world have been scrambling to order new supplies of the antiviral drug as fears of a possible bird flu pandemic continue to grow.
