Regeneron plots $40M expansion, 400 new hires
New York-based Regeneron is blueprinting plans for a $40 million expansion of its facilities, paving the way for the developer to add 400 new jobs--primarily in research. One hundred of those positions will be in East Greenbush, while 300 hires are planned for its Westchester County complex.
As part of its expansion, Regeneron is upgrading a 131,000-square-foot building--the third research facility it has in Tarrytown. The biotech company recently completed two new facilities on the site. Regeneron has been on a roll recently; about a month ago, the biotech announced that Sanofi-Aventis had expanded its research partnership, committing to pay Regeneron more than a billion dollars over eight years.
"Because we have the type of business where we are moving product candidates through the pipeline, in the beginning we will need people who do the research," a spokesperson tells the Albany Business Review, adding that once drug candidates are approved, "we will need people on the other end in Rensselaer."
