QLT shares drop after eye drug flunks vision-loss trial

Shares of Canada's QLT dropped this morning following the announcement that its eye drug Visudyne failed a late-stage trial. The trial set out to determine if Visudyne combined with photodynamic therapy could reduce the risk of loss of vision among patients with macular degeneration. QLT stressed that this was one of several trials involving the drug. More analysis will be done on relevant subgroups.
