'Project Boss' could deliver 1,000 biotech jobs to GA

Tools

'Project Boss' may be Georgia's ticket to the big time in biotechnology.

Economic development officials are playing their cards close to their vests, but the Atlanta Business Chronicle says that Georgia is on a short list of states competing for a major biotech project that could deliver around 1,000 jobs. Citing sources, the Chronicle reports that the Peach State is vying for a vaccine or biologics manufacturing complex that would occupy 100 acres. Mike Cassidy, president of the Georgia Research Alliance, says a win on this deal could do the same for the state's biotech business as the Kia manufacturing package did for the state's auto manufacturing rep.

State officials are hopeful, but note that with the economic crisis, it's taking longer to land the big projects.
