Pfizer's Kindler shares R&D tips

During a conversation with the Wall Street Journal's Health Blog, Pfizer CEO Jeffrey Kindler (photo) laid out three simple steps he believe will lead the more productive R&D. First, groups should be organized into departments of no more than 100 to 150 researchers--few enough that communication among staff is easy. Each group, according to Kindler, should be headed up by a Chief Science Officer who's prominent in his or her field of research. Finally, the groups should be left alone to operate how they please. Their only job would be discovering promising new drugs for the company. Report
