Pfizer's cancer drug Sutent shows promise

Pfizer's experimental cancer drug Sutent is showing promise in late stage clinical trials. While many cancer treatments work by killing the cancer cell as well as healthy tissue, Sutent, which is taken in pill form, is specifically targeted to the cancer itself. The treatment works by simultaneously cutting off blood flow to the tumor, killing cancer cells and inhibiting signals that cause the tumor to spread. It is currently being tested for intestinal cancer.
