New report claims signs of bay area brain drain
Industry group BayBio has bullishly touted northern California's biotech cluster as being on the verge of a commercial explosion as new therapies spill out of a rich pipeline. But the group is also sounding the alarm that competing states and countries are raiding the area's best companies for talent, creating the beginnings of a brain drain. An independent analyst would have to ask if BayBio is more interested in promoting the area or gaining fresh support from the state legislature to battle back against such a dire threat to its future. Or, perhaps, it's a bit of both. There's nothing like competition over economic development to get a state legislature whipped up.
