Nabi to close European operations

In a follow-up to the failure of StaphVax in a late-stage trial, Nabi Pharmaceuticals said it will close its European operations and lay off staffers hired to launch the drug. Several weeks ago researchers reported that StaphVax had failed a Phase III trial aimed at reducing staph infections in kidney disease patients. Nabi plans to develop new markets for its two lead drugs outside the United States.
