Metrics: Teen vaccine market poised for growth
With the global vaccine market set to double by 2010, hitting $19 billion, development companies are increasingly focused on new vaccines for teens. Vaccines for bacterial meningitis, whooping cough and human papillomavirus are being studied among teens, who could account for 15 percent of the total market. Some of the new vaccines are being marketed directly to parents, and costs are often significantly higher than earlier generations of vaccines.
