Mayo Clinic's hometown wants to be a $6.5B biotech hub

Rochester, MN, home of the Mayo Clinic, is an otherwise unassuming Midwestern city, housing about 111,000 people on the Zumbro River. But the town's leaders have a plan to transform it into a global hub of biotech research and cutting-edge medical technology, approving a $6.5 billion plan that will remake Rochester over the next 20 years. As Fast Company reports, the plan is to leverage the Mayo Clinic--and the medical tourism it drives--and effectively build a new Rochester in its image.
