Lilly seeks Cymbalta approval, bullish on 2006
Eli Lilly says it will push ahead next year with plans to seek the FDA's approval to use Cymbalta for generalized anxiety disorder. The company also estimated that earnings for the fourth quarter will be ahead of analysts' estimates. Lilly said its implied estimate of 8 percent to 12 percent earnings growth in 2006 is well ahead of Wall Street's consensus for large-cap drug stocks. "Given our products, pipeline and the fact that we expect no major patent expirations for the rest of this decade, Lilly is uniquely positioned to deliver sustained earnings growth," said Sidney Taurel, chairman and CEO for Lilly.
