Indonesia prepares deal with Baxter for bird flu vaccine

Indonesia has stopped providing researchers with genetic samples collected from new cases of bird flu, saying that it wants to protect its intellectual property rights in the development of a new vaccine. Health officials say the move is likely to slow development of a defense against a potential pandemic. Analysts expect that the Indonesian government is looking to cut a deal that delivers the IP in exchange for a cut-rate price on a new vaccine.
