Shares of Indevus Pharmaceuticals were buoyed by the news that a second Phase III trial of extended-release Sanctura for overactive bladder provided fresh data supporting its statistical significance. Patients taking the drug experienced an 83 percent reduction in the number of incidents of urinating before reaching a bathroom compared to a 52 percent reduction among patients taking a placebo. Subjects taking Sanctura also reported an average of 2.5 fewer trips to the bathroom per day compared to a reduction of 1.8 times per day among placebo users. The Lexington, MA-based developer reported similar data in mid-June.
