Gates spends $450M to promote medical innovations

Bill Gates is spending $450 million on a variety of new research projects that are doing some blue-sky thinking in the realm of new medical therapies. The projects that have won his funds include research that will try to develop dry powder vaccines, use gene modification to prevent mosquitoes from spreading dengue fever and study immune responses to the HIV virus.
